The Storm Is Over in Pismo Beach
Thanks to everyone for the calls and emails about the storm we had in California last week. The good news is that it passed and the damage was pretty minimal. One of the things that causes the most damage is the storm surge and high ocean waves.
Here is how Pismo Beach normally looks with typical surf - more than 300 days a year
However, when a storm hits at high tide things can get pretty harry near the shore line. Fortunately the surfers were smart enough to stay out of the water.
The county closed the pier because some of the waves were flowing in over the top of it. This is the best photo that I could find. I am not really sure how high the waves were, but if I were guessing, our typical 5-8' break was more like 25' or more.
